FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD!! (NOT!!!)

Not much new today...she's still wishing she could drink and eat, but the doctors are still wanting her to wait awhile till things calm down a bit in her abdomen. We are hopeful that as soon as her white count comes up, she will at least get some clear liquids. Clear chicken broth even sounds good to her right now! Of course, the mouth sores are raging so that could pose an eating obstacle as well.

High point of the day was probably watching the world cup soccer tournament--even though the U.S. Team lost. Oh, and the 3 small sips of water she got to take 3 pills throughout the day!

Hopefully, Rachel will feel up to writing tomorrow!

  2. Hi Rachel,
What a blessing we all live in this day and age.
The doctors with the best treatments and skills and the blessings of being raised by your wonderful parents and incredible brothers and sister. Your strength reminds me of a story my husband Scott recieved when he was your age, as he lay in a hospital bed fighting for his life...it was something he kept with him all his life..and it went something like this...Frank O'Connor, the Irish writer tells in one of his books how as a boy, he and his friends would make their way across the countryside and when they came to an orchard wall that seemed too high and too doubtful to try and too difficult to permit their voyage to continue, they took off their hats and tossed them over the wall - and then they had no choice but to follow them...
So I say to you what was said to Scott...Rachel -keep tossing your hat!
We love you, You are in our prayers...your California friends, The Sniderbunch

  3. I was so excited to see the title... but then I saw the "not" :( . I hope you are able to eat soon! I am missing you so much. I was so excited to come home from camp and see you but I felt sick yesterday morning and thought I better wait it out a bit and make sure I wasn't sick with something. So I will be there as soon as I am certain I'm not sick to bring you a few little camp trinkets :) Hope you have a better day today. You are in every prayer and thought!

  4. I remember those days oh too vividly. Sometimes the warmer stuff tasted the best to Taylie. We tried about everything we could, and sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. Hang in there. Wish I could help you more! Hasn't been a day gone by that you are not in my prayers and in my thoughts. You can do it!

  7. So many great comments here that I have no idea why I am writing except to say....
Thank you to all of you! It seems that in being so positive for each other we build strength within ourselves!
Trials are why we are here, yet they REALLY SUCK!
So hang in there Rachel, and be strengthened by all this INCREDIBLE support! It seems that every comment is a testimony in itself that The Lord is your strength his is always with you! We all move you so much!
Thank you for being who you are everyday. I know each day is a different emotion, but all those emotions are what make you who we all love so much!
    Kisses,
    Shelley
