As you can see from the above post, Rachel had her first Blood Transfusion today. Transfusions are very common for patients with AML, and they are made possible when people donate blood through foundations like the Red Cross.

I have included a short video from the Red Cross that demonstrates the importance of giving blood by telling the story of Danielle, a little girl with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. I thought this was a really neat and inspiring video, so I decided I would post it :) Enjoy!

  1. What a cutie! Well I'll for sure be donating as soon as I can! Thanks

  2. I donated last week at the stake blood drive, and was thinking that I should just drive to the Red Cross office and do it every two months instead of waiting for a blood drive to come around. I'll definitely do this now, Rachel. And Erika needed some inspiration to donate blood for the first time - I think she just might do it now! Hugs!

That little girl was so stinkin' cute. I think I need to make an appointment with the Red Cross and donate some blood. Love you Rachel!!!!
