Time for an Update

I just realized it has been a while since I posted. I will get right to it... Nationals was amazing. My team did really well, but most of all it was so much fun to get out like I used to. It was a crazy experience, and I even managed to get a little playing time! After I came home I headed straight up to the cabin for the family reunion for the 4th of July. It was so good to be up at the cabin again after so long. We went to the traditional parade in Soda Springs, where much to my dismay the majority of the candy was salt water taffy. But everything turned out ok because I happened to catch an otter pop. Our family ended up winning the sand volleyball tournament... and yes I played! I was forced to lather up in sun screen which caused the sand to stick to my body... it was a fun treat. But the tournament was lots of fun. I then came home to a week of volleyball at a team tournament with my high school team. I played 3-4 matches a day for 5 days, so I would say that is an improvement from where I used to be. I am definitely still a lot slower and can't jump as high but at least I am playing. Then it was time to go down to St. George with MV student council. We went down there and participated in a lot of work shops and activities at the Dixie Leadership Conference. It was a lot of fun, but it is good to finally be home now.

I am so grateful for all of the little things: being able to take hot showers, swimming, MY APPETITE! It feels so good to want to eat again. I look forward to desserts like I used to, and I now snack just for the sake of having something to do. This is wonderful, as it will help with my weight gain task.  Even though I don't have my full energy and strength back, it feels so good to just not feel sick. And if I dare use the word... I am starting to feel "normal" again. Now I have a couple of weeks to enjoy the summer before we head off to Italy!

  2. July has been a whirlwind for you, and I'm so glad you've been able to keep up! It makes up for last July, which was a whirlwind of hospital activity instead. Great job with your volleyball and everything else, Rachel - we can't wait to hear about your fun trip to Italy!

  3. Yeah! How amazing to be able to do what you love again.....and it sounds like you are doing "a lot" of it! Good for you. What a busy summer you are having....but that is what "normal" people do during their summer right! I am so excited for you to go to Italy.....I can't think of a better place for you to have your appetite back....Nick (my husband) served his mission there, and I want to go back sometime, I told him I have to weigh like 15 lbs less than I want to....so I can make it up in all the delicious food and treats! Can't wait to see pictures!
